What Is GICA?

The Georgia Independent College Association (GICA) exemplifies the strength of collaboration among private non-profit colleges in Georgia, advocating for policies and practices that help students and boost the sector's prominence and effectiveness. GICA's multifaceted approach includes policy development, collaborative services, and comprehensive research aimed at favorably influencing state and national public policies. It also focuses on raising awareness of the value and accessibility of private education, promoting its institutions as distinctive choices in higher education. Through initiatives like scholarships, collaborative purchasing, and professional development programs, GICA ensures its colleges have access to essential resources and opportunities. Mission Of GICA?

The Georgia Independent College Association (GICA) is an association of Georgia's private (independent), not-for-profit colleges and universities. Through partnerships with institutions, businesses, and community leaders, GICA supports private higher education in the areas of public policy, research, fundraising for student financial aid, and collaborative programs. GICA's 24 members serve more than 72,000 students. We are dedicated to educating tomorrow's leaders and meeting our State's current and future workforce needs.

Jenna Colvin is a dedicated advocate for independent higher education in Georgia. As President of the Georgia Independent College Associa5on (GICA) since 2020, she represents 24 private colleges and their students before with Congress, the Governor, the Georgia General Assembly, and both public K-12 and higher education sectors. Her efforts are aimed at supporting student choice for college and promoting the interests and sustainability of these institutions through strategic advocacy and policy engagement. Previously, Jenna served as the Chief Legal Officer for the University of North Georgia. Her responsibilities included governance, compliance, constutional law, student affairs, athletics, international activities, litigation, and governmental audits. Additionally, she led the university’s state government relations program, focusing on securing strategic capital funding and advancing regulatory priorities.
